“Teaching someone to read is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire”
 Victor Hugo

Tutor training is held two or three times a year.  It is a 4 hour comprehensive training.  Tutors then can choose their learner either Literacy or ESL.  The staff will match the Tutor and Learner according to the geographic area they live in.

Tutors basically work one-on-one, and they get together in a public place or sometimes in the office.  The student and the tutor make the arrangements as to the location, but it's never in one another's house.
